I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. I discovered a love for travel as a teen (Mom says that I was bitten by the "travel bug"). I received my bachelor's and master's degrees at SUNY schools in Upstate New York, but eventually landed in the Washington, DC Metro area for eleven years working as a middle school math teacher. My other main hobby is music, and I spend much of my free time playing the French horn.
Photography has been a favorite activity of mine for about as long as I can remember. I owned a point and shoot camera as a young child. It was replaced with a wonderful point and shoot Olympus when I was a teen, and I took literally thousands of photos with that camera for probably 15 or more years.
When I began planning a trip to Alaska in 2003, I switched to SLR photography. When I began researching the purchase of my first SLR, I discovered a wonderful website with opportunities to read articles about the art and mechanics of photography as well as a photo critique area where photographers learn from each other's work and comments on photos.
In the meantime, my passion for travel continues. And I have realized a desire to make images of the world that I am looking at. I rarely go anywhere without my camera. In my portfolio, you will see images from many parts of the United States as well as Europe and Africa. I pray that I have captured the true heart of the places to which I have traveled ... and that these images will light your world with the vision of creation.
A logical next step in my growth as a photographer is to make my images available for purchase online. This is a new business, and therefore will likely go through changes over the next few months/years. You will definitely find additions to my portfolio every time you return. Feel free to browse and enjoy. If you like what you see, consider purchasing a print. Or send a link to Angaza Photo to a friend.
